We are delighted to welcome Maria founder of Bell Meadow as the host for our Dried Flower Garden Workshop at Eden Hall. Maria specialises in sustainable flower farming and is passionate about teaching others how to grow and preserve flowers that maintain their beauty long after they are harvested. Her workshops are renowned for being both educational and creatively enriching, combining hands-on gardening skills with artistic floral arrangements.

No matter what your experience level, this workshop is designed to spark creativity, share practical insights, and leave you feeling inspired in an enchanting setting.

A peek at the day and what you’ll experience…

10:30 AM – Warm Welcome and Intro

  • Guests are welcomed with a crackling fire in the drawing room along with with tea, coffee and homemade scones.

  • Rachel will offer an interior designers perspective on some ways to incorporate dried flowers into your interiors.

11:00 AM –Planning Your Cut Flower Patch

  • We head to the granary kitchen within the main house for a discussion on planning a small cut flower patch designed specifically for drying flowers.

  • Each participant receives a suggested growing plan for a small growing patch, one to fit a raised bed or similar size.

  • You’ll receive growing instructions and seeds for popular flowers ideal for drying, such as Larkspur, Strawflowers, and Ammobium. Seeds that thrive outside in the Irish weather.

  • Tips on choosing easy-to-grow varieties and planning for successive blooms.

12.00 – Techniques for Flower Drying

  • Demonstration of flower drying methods, showcasing your setup and storage techniques.

  • Recommended best online resources and books for further learning.

  • Guidance on preserving colour and texture in dried flowers.

1 PM– Seasonal Two Course Lunch 

  • Gather in the dining room to savour a delicious, home-cooked main course and dessert made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and enjoy a sparkling toast to a day well spent.

2PM– Vintage Teacup/Sugar bowl arrangement using Dried Flowers

  • Have some fun creating a floral arrangement in a vintage china teacup and saucer or matching china sugar bowl and saucer. Take home a piece of your own everlasting, hand crafted, home décor.

3pm  Finish - Each participant will leave with:

  • their own charming teacup or matching sugar bowl floral arrangement

  • a detailed planting plan

  • a selection of seeds to begin their own flower patch

  • the knowledge and confidence to grow, dry, and create with flowers

  • some wonderful memories from an inspiring day at Eden Hall.
